Dr. Andrew Karmin
Dr. Andrew Karmin has literally been surrounded by veterinary medicine all of his life. His father founded a practice on the Queens Nassau border where the family lived on the second floor for a number of years.
Dr. Karmin received his undergraduate education at Adelphi University and graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He then joined his father’s practice and soon became medical director of the hospital. The mission statement of his practice remains his philosophy today: “To practice medicine at the standards of teaching hospitals while retaining the atmosphere of a family practice”.
Proudly, he is held in high regard by colleagues at teaching hospitals, veterinary specialists as well as by general practitioners.
As a member of the NYC Veterinary Medical Association Dr. Karmin served as an executive board member, chaired the Continuing education committee and was a member of its Ethics Committee as well as President of NYC VMA. He is the recipient of many awards from the Society. On the State and Regional levels Dr Karmin has served in various capacities.
Dr. Karmin is a fervent advocate of Licensed Veterinary Technicians
who he believes to be the backbone of any strong medical practice; currently serving on the Boards of the LaGuardia Community College and CW Post schools for veterinary technicians.
He will always be indebted to the best doctors who mentored him (first on the list of which is Dr. Leo Karmin) and will continue to mentor colleagues to the highest standards
Personally he enjoys spending time with his wife, his children and grandchildren. You may see him cycling around Long Island.
