Dr. Elvina Yau
Born and raised in Long Island, Dr. Elvina Yau cultivated her animal-loving nature by immersing herself in the diverse world of veterinary medicine at a young age. After volunteering at farms, zoos, and small animal clinics, she transformed her childhood fascination with animals into a mature understanding and academic interest in their health and well-being. Dr. Yau graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016, with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience and double minor in Creative Writing & Biology. She continued her studies at Cornell University, where she obtained her DVM degree with Phi Zeta honors in 2020. Dr. Yau is a Category 2 USDA accredited veterinarian and her professional interests include surgery, dentistry, conservation, and science communication
Outside of work, Dr. Yau is a foreign language enthusiast, avid fan of films and television, and enjoys the culinary & performing arts. She has an adventurous spirit and has spent time in 5 continents, conducting research on primates, kangaroos, elephants, and big cats. Dr. Yau has a beloved Shih Tzu and plans to expand her furry family.
